Christmas 2011

I made this collage for a Dirty Santa game with all my friends from high school.  I copied pictures out of our old yearbooks and made copies of some more recent pictures I had taken of all of us and put them together.  I was really nervous hoping they wouldn't think it was stupid. You never know how non-craft people are going to react to your work.  They liked it, I needn't have worried.  Turned out I am now making another one for the person who had it next-to-last and got it stolen at the end of the game.  Love these girls!

A new start

I am creating this blog to post some new ideas I have been trying and to share things along the way.  I have been paper crafting for a little over a year and it has started to fill a void left in my life after the graduation of my youngest son.  Years and years of being the super parents, following our kids in all their sporting events and other past times, left a large gaping hole of time.  I can fill it with my work, but choose not to, I want to have some fun in life.
So here goes, my maiden voyage at blogging!

Here are some ornaments I personalized this year.  I took some old, plain glass ornaments and decoupaged dictionary pages all over them.  Then I painted on them with Stickles.

This is a sign I made for my mom (Vicky) for her sewing room.  She is a master seamstress!

This is a collage I made for my #2 son, Jesse, upon his graduation from high school.

This is a collage I made for my #3 son, Jalen, upon his graduation from high school.

This is a plate charger that I decorated with a picture of my sons and my nephews, at my oldest son's college graduation (Wabash College).

This is a picture frame I "spruced up" with some fun Tim Holtz stuff (distress stickles, fragment charms, grunge, etc.).

This is my version of the collage that Archiver's offered.  My sister got the kit for me for Christmas and I was THRILLED!!!!!

These are some wooden notes that I bought at JoAnn, painted, stamped with a music stamp and then covered in gold Stickles.  These are hanging on my craft room wall.

I bought a metal sign on clearance at Michaels for about $2.00, covered it in Graphic 45 paper and viola, a message board.  I made magnets using cutouts from the leftover paper and you can hardly tell they are there unless you look really close!  This is hanging on my craft room door.

A shelf hanging in my craft room, with some special items.  Some I have made, some I have embellished, some I just like to look at!

I made this PEACE sign from a clearance wooden sign at Michaels.  Covered it with some paper from the "Faith" line at Hobby Lobby and then used Distress Ink (Tea Dye) all over the exposed edges.

Then I added a paper flower that I had glued a button in the center of, and attached with a pin from the Tim Holtz line.

That's all for now.  Have a great week!
